Christy McNaughtan – Admitted 1996

Christy's first degree was in English at Bristol University (2.1 hons). She then worked in the pr and music industries (organising the Music Week Awards and in-house at EMI International Business Affairs) prior to taking the CPE and Legal Practice Course (merit) with the College of Law. She obtained a training contract with The Simkins Partnership and was employed as an assistant in the music department post qualificaton. During that time she was also seconded to work in house at Sony Music Entertainment in the SINE business affairs department. She then worked at Marriot Harrison gaining additional experience acting for clients in the software, film and broadcast industries prior to moving to Searles Solicitors in 1997. At Searles she worked closely with Helen Searle on all her major clients while simultaneously building up her own practice. Following a decision by the partners to close Searles Solicitors in 2004 Christy became a founding partner of Northrop McNaughtan Deller together with her colleagues Tim Northrop and Martin Deller. Christy has a broad based practice in the entertainment industry and represents a full spectrum of clients from Brit award winning international artists to band's just starting out in their career. She represents performing artists from all musical genres, writers, producers, managers, promoters, agents, publishing, film and tv companies and is retained by two independent labels for on-going business affairs advice.
